The real challenge is understanding the in’s and out’s of social media advertising, how to get started, what to spend and how each network operates. That’s a lot of stuff for even the most experienced brands on social media.
SELECT THE RIGHT AUDIENCE
Use the deep audience knowledge you’ve gained from your other marketing activities to create highly-specific, granular audiences to target. While this approach casts a much smaller net, you’ll likely see more success since you’re hitting a more specific audience
CHOOSE THE BEST PLATFORM
You don’t have to advertise on every platform. There are just too many for you to effectively cover all of them. Besides, your audience may not spend equal time on all platforms. Strategize whether you're going to use Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook depending on your target customers.
Creating greats ads takes time, you need good imagery, great copy, and excellent blogs. It doesn’t matter how well thought out your audience targeting is if you skimp out on the ad creation process itself.
CHOOSING THE TYPE OF AD PLACEMENT
Once you’ve selected the right platform for your business, you can then select the type of placement you would like your social ads to appear into. This would depend on the platform as each has different structures, layouts and ways of presenting content to their users. Let’s use Facebook as an example to present this clearly as the platform offers different placement types for social ads as listed in the chart below which is rated according to how users find each location as effective.
REFINE, REFINE, REFINE
Use your results to make informed adjustments that get you even more out of your paid ad strategy. Even after you have a well-honed strategy, you need to stay vigilant. Changes in the market, new algorithms, and new technologies can all affect the effectiveness of your strategy.
Getting started is only as good as your call to action. Make sure that’s as clear and easy as possible. As for us, we’d like you to check out nextjourney to start developing a strategy for your business.
